Based on the exclusive Baia Chair, introduced in 2021, Japanese designer Kensaku Oshiro has created a counter stool and a bar stool that elegantly unite Danish and Japanese design aesthetics. Inspired by the shape of a bay, the signature curved C-shaped backrest creates a soft contrast to the raw, structural elements of the frame. Combining refined aesthetics with exceptional comfort, the Baia Counter Stool and Baia Bar Stool are designed for contemporary interiors, serving as elegant additions to a kitchen island or a home bar setting. Like the Baia Chair, the Baia Counter Stool and Baia Bar Stool feature a highly advanced construction that requires multiple manufacturing techniques and exceptional craftsmanship. The frame is available in either chrome-plated or powder-coated steel and is produced using a complex welding process. It consists of a flat steel seat frame combined with slender bent steel tubes, each finished with a subtle rounded detail at the end of the legs. An integrated footrest ensures a comfortable seating experience. The distinctive C-shaped backrest is available either upholstered or in solid wood. The solid wood version is crafted using a specialised steam-bending technique and is subsequently hand-sanded to achieve a refined finish. The upholstered backrest is hand-stitched and offered in a wide range of fabric and leather options. The soft upholstered seat provides excellent comfort and is likewise available in both fabric and leather upholstery. The harmonious interplay of these carefully crafted elements gives the Baia Counter Stool and Baia Bar Stool an elegant sense of lightness and unique expression.
